Importance of Training
Getting your foot in the door is a start, but it’s not enough to ensure fast progression and growth throughout your career.
With the current state of the economy, many organisations are trying to balance their restructuring and retention needs to ensure they maintain their well-trained, multi-skilled organisation.
It has been recognised that without well trained employees, a company can lose its competitive advantage. It is for this reason, it is essential for all organisations to continually be training their staff to ensure maximum success.
When recruiting new employees, organisations often focus on selecting staff with the right attitude and essential competencies such as confidence, drive to succeed and strong communication skills. Once a suitable candidate is selected they can then use training and mentoring to ensure the necessary skills are acquired.
Main Benefits of Training:
1) Assist employees to grow, develop and gain fast progression
Providing training can benefit employees as it can be used as a tool that can lead to a fast progression rate through an organisation. Quality skills and knowledge can be seen as a powerful bargaining tool when looking to move up within a company.
2) Assist organisations in achieving their goals and objectives
Providing training can increase job satisfaction and staff morale by creative a strong learning culture within an organisation which can lead to an improved profitability and a more positive attitude towards achieving the organisations goals and objectives.

Very good article and concepts for making success work for you. It’s too bad most employers do not carry these concepts to their employees. To establish grounded good employee not only depends on the employee, but also how the employer sets forth the example and the training on the job. I could give many examples of my experiences, but it would be too long.
Building confidence and structure for good work habits, depends on the management’s training approach and their example they present.
PennySue – well said i have been in the training and development field for far too long!!!!! Action does in fact speak lounder than words,so many emplyer web sites use wonderful statements like “we value our people we place great empahsis on their training and development”. On closer examination and questioning are only after complienace based material that allows them to tick the box, “Yes we did the training”…management’s approach to training is really being tested in the current climate.
